The Physics Virtual Lab, PVL, is a Physics EduVirtualLab (Educational Virtual Lab), it is audio visual and fully interactive, it is based on the mathematical models of the experiments it contains.
The PVL has been developed to accomplish computer assisted teaching and learning in the physics courses at high schools, and universities. The PVL makes easier and more productive the work of the teacher, and since it is intuitively-easy-to-use, it stimulates the student to carry out experiments by his/her own account, which contributes to profit more of the physics course and as a consequence to optimize his/her academic formation.
Nowadays the PVL is successfully used by some teachers as an aid to their explanations in the classroom; it is also used as the main tool in updating courses addressed to physics teachers. Additionally the PVL is used in some universities as a physics lab, where students perform experiments based on the PVL Experiment Guides.
Some people fond of physics around the world have since long ago used the PVL for independent study, it is also used at home by engineering and science students under distance learning programs. The PVL includes at least 178 simulation modules dealing with mechanics, waves, oscillations, thermodynamics, electricity, magnetism, and optics. The PVL also includes some computer games based on physics, which the author's students always request him to show when he teaches General Physics courses at the university.
